Calmness

“The pursuit, even of the best things, ought to be calm and tranquil.” -Marcus Tullius Cicero

How often do we work in a frenzy state to accomplish some tasks in our lives? Rather than focus on when it is to be done but instead focused on producing quality calmly, would our results be better produced? Watch your self-talk and watch when you need to get things done. Waiting to last minute is no win surely.

Find Courage

“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.” -Anais Nin

We all feel fear at some point in the day. It may be about something big or even something small. At that point we probably try to talk ourself out of it. It’s just before this point where you must learn to take action without hesitation. Learn to do this and you will grow stronger. Face your fears, that’s how you grow.

Be Humble

“Let us touch the dying, the poor, the lonely and the unwanted according to the graces we have received and let us not be ashamed or slow to do the humble work.” -Mother Teresa

It is good to be reminded from time to time to be humble. That is to look around and offer a helping hand. We are so focused on our own problems that we forget that there are people out there who probably have it worse or just going through there own hard times in their own way. If we gave back, perhaps we would gain something within.

Keep at it!

“What is not started today is never finished tomorrow.” -Johann Wolfgang

It is easy to be distracted by all the toys in the world these days. Are you taking time for yourself to figure out what you want to accomplish within this lifetime? If you are ok with just working the job and then playing with these toys, then that is great.

For most people, I suspect they have some sort of burning passion to create something, to make some sort of impact. So put some time aside each day to think about this. Once you get an idea, dwell on it some more. If it drifts off, then find a new one. If not, perhaps then take some action and follow through even if it gets tough or tiring. You can do it!

Keep at it!

“The only guarantee for failure is to stop trying.” -John C. Maxwell

More or less everyone has the same problem. It is taking that first step and then the taking consistent action part that are probably the show stoppers.

Discipline is key then.

My wife keeps lecturing me about how I hit the snooze button. “For goodness sakes, just set the alarm later from the get go then and just rise!” That’s just one approach to that problem. Personally, it was a reminder to stay true to what I set from the beginning. Now I make it a habit to wake up as planned.

Discipline takes work. You can do it if you keep at it. So, get working on your dream!

Take a Shot

“Today not starting is far, far worse, than being wrong. If you start, you’ve got a shot at evolving and adjusting to turn your wrong into a right. But if you don’t start, you never get a chance. -Seth Godin

Coming up with ideas isn’t really the challenge, it is actually put the idea into motion that is. I can come up with ideas all day long but takes steps to implement the? That doesn’t come easily.

I got all sorts of self-doubts and ideas about how it will never work on. Do these thoughts really matter though? I say push them aside and push forward.

Give it your best and stick to it until you get it out there for some real feedback. And even then, should you stop? I don’t think so because there are so many naysayers.

Keep at it and do review your feedback for adjustment.

Initiate

“The easiest thing is to react. The second easiest is to respond. But the hardest thing is to initiate.” -Seth Godin

Ideas come and go quickly as a thought. We have them all the time. I am sure you had several today already. I am also sure you may have forgotten what these were too.  Surely the ones from yesterday were forgotten.

Do you even jot down your ideas? What if you did? But if you did, would you probably have second thoughts about them. You’d come up with some reason to get yourself out of taking action, yea?

Now, if you did take action and initiated…wow. That is a step in a powerful direction. Now you must maintain the momentum. As you can see, resistance is all around us hammering away to prevent us from accomplishing anything. You must fight constantly. Never give in.

Take a Leap

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

There are many risks in everything we do. Some are bigger than others. The thing is if we choose safety rather than challenging ourselves, we will end continuing to do what we have always done. If doing what you have always done is working for you, then great. If not, time to take a leap of faith and do something different. Don’t let second thoughts scare you away either.

Embrace Fear

“Do one thing every day that scares you” – Eleanor Roosevelt

If you challenged yourself every day do to something that scared you, what would your life become like? If you embraced your fear and pushed through, you would likely gain so much more experience out there. Take the challenge today and everyday. Go for it!

Don’t attack your ideas.

“To succeed, jump as quickly at opportunities as you do at conclusions.” -Benjamin Franklin

When I am left to myself and my ideas, I tend to start finding flaws and impossibilities with them. I even figure out that it probably isn’t even worth my time because someone else is already doing it.

How many other people out there say the same things to themselves. How many great ideas are squashed before even given a go. How many wonderful ideas are quickly forgotten.

Stop that self-talk and just take action instead. Just go with it. Build it. Do it. See where it takes you. Even if it does flop, it will have been a learning experience in some way or another. It may even make the world a better place.
