It is All in the Mind

“Bran thought about it. ‘Can a man still be brave if he’s afraid?’
‘That is the only time a man can be brave,’ his father told him.”
― George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones

“I don’t think I can do it,” said the child.
“You can do it if you believe in yourself,” said the older man.
“I can’t,” frowned the child. “It’s impossible.”

The man looked down to the child with a warm smile. “One is always uncomfortable of the unknown but once you embrace it, it usually turns out to be nothing or not so bad. The mind has a tendency to make situations worse than they are.”

The child looked at the picture of blocks taking a particular shape and then she began to pick up the woodblocks to connect them together. As she connected one block with another, a shape began taking form just as in the picture.

With trial, error, patience, and time, the little girl had put together the set of blocks to form a small woodblock giraffe.

“Look! I did it! I did it!” exclaimed the little girl. Her face was brightly lit.
The man smiled. “You certainly did. Embrace your fears and stay the course, that’s how you will grow.”
